2012 Castello di Selvole Barullo Toscana IGT Produced only in the best vintages and in limited quantities, the Barullo Toscana IGT is composed of a blend of Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet grapes and is considered one of the region's "Super Tuscans". The richness of aroma and the full body of this wine come from the blend of grapes, including from sangiovese vines which are more than 30 years old. When combined with the Selvole's Estate own more recently planted Merlot and Cabernet grapes, and put through a very strict selection process culminating in a long vilification period, the wine produced is one for special occasions or for the collector that appreciates waiting for age to further enhance the wine's rewards. After at least one and half years of ageing in the Selvole Estate's own French oak barriques and at least a further six months of resting in bottle an intriguing product, smooth, elegant, and very pleasant makes up the finished product. Intense ruby colour, full of spicy perfumes, cacao and cassis. Very powerful in the mouth with vanilla, liquorice, tobacco, chocolate and red fruits taste. Evolved and mature tannins, long finish - Castello di Selvole. |
